It's Lonely in the Modern World

Some of my recent favorites from Unhappy Hipsters:
She’d been begging her parents to swap out the gravel for a real lawn, with chairs and everything.
She hadn’t counted on their literalism.

He’d hoped to procure one of the elusive “silver” pugs; this mutt stuck out like a sore thumb.
That’s what he got for shopping with a non-AKC breeder.

Not on the grass, Sweetie. Never. On. The. Grass. See how much fun Daddy is having?

For the second time that week, the living room had conferenced without her.
Small comfort, but the dining area appeared to be shut out as well.

No Two Alike

Waking up in a fairytale wonderland wouldn't be a bad way to start your day, especially if it meant leaving and coming home to this amazing architectural structure!
"Viennese artist, Friedensreich Hundertwasser, has designed what has become one of the more unique and visually stimulating buildings in the world. With over 1000 unique windows, individualized handles on windows and doors, a living roof, café, parking garage, restaurant, bar, playground, and a running stream, the Waldspirale in Darmstadt, Germany is an architectural wonder. Upon first glance, second and third, one is simply enchanted and astonished."

Can you believe it's only half a world away? This is definitely going on my 'If-I-ever-get-to-Germany-these-are-the-places-I'll-visit' list! Read the rest of the article here.

I would like to...

...be able to shell out the $25 million asking price for this real estate gem! This 3-story loft makes my knees go a little weak. Here's a bit of info about this architectural beauty:
"...a striking triplex penthouse apartment in a clock tower overlooking the Brooklyn Bridge and New York Harbor has gone on the market for $25 million, more than double the highest price known to have been paid for a home in Brooklyn. The main floor of the sleek modern apartment is dominated by four working clocks housed in four 14-foot-high round windows, which provide nearly unobstructed views (except for the clock faces) out to the four points of the compass. The penthouse sits atop one of the tallest buildings in Dumbo, the cobblestoned neighborhood that in the 1980s sprang to life in a former industrial area between the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges.

The 3,000-square-foot main floor has an open living room, dining room and kitchen with 16-foot-high ceilings. A glass-walled elevator and a three-story floating staircase at the center of the space lead to smaller floors that narrow toward the top of the tower. There are three bedrooms on the 2,300-square-foot second floor (watch your head as you walk along the exterior walls), and on the floor above that, a 988-square-foot open loft with a 15-foot ceiling. Finally, up a narrow staircase at the very top of the building is a tiny windswept crow’s nest."

And now for the moment you've been waiting for...
So spacious, so many interesting nooks and crannies to explore, such sleak design, no need for a single wall clock, location to boot, and that view!! I propose we all pool our money and make an offer... who's with me??
